The Crevasse - Making of 3D Street Art

Now this doesn't have too much to do with nightlife, but we occasionally like to post up cool art-stuff. Now I'm pretty sure most of you web geeks have seen pictures of 3D street art (where it looks realistic and 3D but is merely a street painting), but this YouTube clip shows the painting process from start to finish and how it all comes together. It was done by German artist Edgar Muller at the Festival of World Cultures.

A Monthly Gem - The Downtown LA Art Walk

Monday, Feb 9, 2009
A Monthly Gem - The Downtown LA Art Walk Spencer Weiner / Los Angeles Times Aside from all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and the Music Biz, LA actually has quite a rich history of culture. And not just in the museums but in various festivals and outdoor events. Every second Thursday of the month (which is this Thursday, February 12th), LA hosts Art Walk, which features more than 40 galleries on the streets of Downtown and attracts 2,000 and 3,000 visitors. Kanye West - "Good Morning"

Tuesday, Aug 26, 2008
Kanye West - Credit: Murakami

Kanye West gets creative on us again with a full on animated music video based on the cartoon bear mascot from Takashi Murakami.

The visuals are awesome (I'm a fan of Murakami's art) and the story line paints us a picture of the struggles Kanye's been through to get to his "Graduation" - obstacles, roadblocks, how far he had to come. Many folks could care less for his arrogance (the scene where all the football players are chasing him), but I think it's a great message that he's been able to take us through his path to success through all his albums and his lyrics in a way many of us can relate to.

Folks have tried to anime themselves (e.g. Britney Spears) but I think this is the first time it actually had some substance to it.
